The Nelson Police Department says it’s noticed an increase in impaired driving by both alcohol and drug in the last few days, resulting in seized vehicles and suspended licenses.
They’ve also had several calls about people drinking and doing drugs downtown.
On Sunday morning, a business complained about a man who was injecting drugs in their washroom.
He was arrested for possession, causing a disturbance, and mischief. He was jailed and then released on conditions pending a court date.
On Monday afternoon, police responded to a complaint about a drunk man downtown. They found him in the 400 block of Baker St. They say he yelled at them and started to walk away, but was stopped and arrested for public drunkenness and causing a disturbance.
He was jailed but later released on conditions and a court date. He faces additional charges for his behavior while in custody.
