Water restrictions imposed for Woodland Heights

The Regional District of Central Kootenay has imposed stage 2 water conservation measures in the Woodland Heights neighbourhood of Taghum.

In a news release, the RDCK said the reservoir is at 50 per cent capacity and the pump has been has running constantly over the last day and a half because of high water demand.

Stage 2 measures mean watering of lawns, gardens, trees and shrubs is only allowed between 6 and 10 a.m. and 8 and 10 p.m.

Watering of gardens, trees and shrubs by can or hand-held hose is still permitted anytime.

The RDCK said the measures will remain in effect until further notice and stricter measures may be required if demand increases significantly, or if the hot and dry weather continues.

The system serves 27 lots and has 20 active connections.
