Evacuation alert for Poplar lifted

The Regional District of Central Kooetnay has lifted an evacuation alert issued for the Poplar Creek area due to the Rapid Creek wildfire.

The RDCK says the BC Wildfire Service has advised them the threat posed by the fire has diminished.

Fourteen people were affected by the alert, issued July 31. The fire grew to 1,400 hectares.

However, an evacuation alert remains in effect for Harrop, Procter, and Sunshine Bay.

The RDCK says they are hoping to lift it soon as well.
