Nelson Hydro says a project to put in new power lines on the North Shore will cost a lot more than expected.
Council has approved an increase in the budget from $350,000 to nearly $850,000.
General manager Alex Love says there are a couple of reasons for that.
On top of that the bids were higher than expected.
Love says they can cover the difference without much trouble but it required a formal budget amendment.
The contract has been awarded and work is expected to begin this fall.
