Scrap Site C dam, EcoSociety says

A local environmental organization is calling on the provincial government to cancel the Site C dam.

West Kootenay EcoSociety co-executive director Matthew Carroll says they don’t normally get involved in things outside this area.

But they made an exception because of parallels they see with dams built on the Kootenay-Columbia river system.

The EcoSociety says it opposes Site C because of its impacts on salmon, culture, and agriculture.

They say there are better energy alternatives.

The cabinet could decide on the dam’s fate as early as this week.
