Damage pegged at $30,000 in Blewett trailer fire

No one was hurt but damage is estimated at $30,000 after a fire in a mobile home in Blewett this morning.

Nelson Fire and Rescue says it got a call shortly before 11 a.m. about the blaze in the 2800 block of Blewett Road.

In a news release, assistant chief Mike Daloise said there was “significant smoke” showing from the interior of the home when they arrived. The home owner confirmed no people or pets were inside.

Because there are no fire hydrants in the area, both the Blewett and Beasley fire departments responded to a request for water support.

“Once adequate resources were on scene, the crews performed an offensive interior attack, confining the fire to the room of origin and an adjacent bedroom,” Daloise said.

The entire home suffered “extensive” smoke damage.

The cause is still under investigation.
