IH to continue physician recruitment efforts for Slocan Valley

Interior Health says their choice to go back on cutting ER hours in New Denver was prompted by concerns from the area’s elected officials and community representatives.

IH executive director Karen Bloemink says they have decided to delay plans to switch the hours to 9:00am – 5:00pm weekdays, excluding statutory holidays, at the Slocan Community Health Centre.

She says they still have concerns about having a single physician looking after the service, but will continue trying to recruit more staff.

IH will continue their efforts to recruit more physicians to the area.

Bloemink says they’ll look into recruiting locums for temporary coverage.
