New location for Wednesday markets

The Wednesday markets will be in a new location this summer.

The West Kootenay Eco Society wanted a bigger space to allow for more vendors and last night council approved the move from Baker Street to the 400 and 500 blocks of Hall Street, which includes the plaza.

Councillor Anna Purcell says it’s bitter sweet to see the market moved.

Councillor Robin Cherbo is happy with the change.

City staff considered other locations, however recommended the move to Hall Street as it had the least impact on businesses, parking, traffic, and bus routes.

The first market is in June.
