Kaslo receives grant for community sewer system expansion

The Village of Kaslo received over $900, 000 recently towards the expansion of its community sewer collection system from the Federal Government’s Gas Tax Fund.

The expansion will service the southside of B Avenue and the northside of A Avenue which means about 60 properties in total.

Mayor Susan Hewitt says its great news.

Mayor Hewitt says right now most properties have individual septic systems.

The village is gradually expanding its infrastructure with some big impacts for the community.

The project is part of a larger plan for upgrades to the sewer system in Kaslo.

Hewitt says public consultation will be happening this spring about how to move forward with financing for more of the work.
