Bear spotted in Nelson

The Nelson Police Department is reminding residents to be vigilant of their surroundings after a bear sighting earlier tonight. Police say it happened around 6:00 pm at a home on the 600 block of West Gore Street. The bear may have been trying to get to a covered porch area.

Police say the bear was scared off by the home owner and ran into the woods. It’s described as a large adult black or brown bear. Police attended the scene but couldn’t find it. They notified the BC Conservation Service.
