Business Excellence awards handed out in Nelson

The Business Excellence awards were handed out in Nelson on Thursday Night. There were eight winners after 250 unique businesses were nominated. Nelson and District Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Tom Thomson feels the event had a good turn out.

The final winners were decided by judges Barry Auliffe and Garry Kalinski and included Spearhead for the Business of the Year Award. Thomson says its is a value-added manufacturing company located on the North Shore.

Other awards went to the Nelson Cares Society for Non Profit /Community Service Excellence. Kokanee Mountain Zipline received the award for New Business Excellence. Kootenay Co-op won for Retail Excellence and Baldface won for Tourism Excellence.
