Kootenay Lake already at its highest

Some good news for Kootenay Lake flooding concerns. The City of Nelson announced today that lake levels are at their peak and aren’t expected to rise any further. Fire Chief Len McCharles says we need enough precipitation to prevent wildfire, but hopefully won’t see any significant storms with heavy rainfall. Kootenay Lake reached its highest point so far at 1752.2 feet on May 26 and 27.  In 2012, it reached 1753.78.
