Nelson’s Community Connect Day looking for volunteers

Community Connect Day is coming up in Nelson next month and is in need of volunteers. Ann Harvey, Community Coordinator with the Nelson Committee on Homelessness, says it’s a day where hundreds of people can access services they may usually not be able to.

“Hair cutters, to body workers, to businesses donating things, to health care workers. We have a dental team, people doing vision testing, medical nurse practitioners doing blood tests, nursing students doing flu shots.”

Volunteers are needed for a variety of rolls including the collection of items, approaching local businesses about providing services, set up the day before the event and greeting, reception, and other roles on the big day.

About 55 volunteers are needed to run the event on November 17.
