Damages for $25.000 after explosion at Alpine Inn on Friday night

NELSON, B.C. – An explosion on Friday night left the Alpine Inn with damages estimated at $25.000.

Crews from Nelson Fire Rescue were called to the Alpine Motel at 7:49 on Friday after something exploded, and a fire broke out in the laundry room at the motel, located on Mines Road.

Crews arrived on scene shortly after the call and put the fire out, as well as oversaw a full evacuation of the nearby suites.

According to a media release the fire was contained to the laundry room, with spread to the outside where some grassy material was on fire.

The explosion is now under investigation by Nelson Fire Rescue and Technical Safety BC.

In a press release Nelson Fire Rescue reminds the public to make sure dryers are maintained and the lint filters emptied after each load.
