Preparations to kick off for this years Kootenay Pride

NELSON, B.C – The organizers of Kootenay Pride are looking for volunteers to help make this years celebration happen.

In a release to community members, the group is asking those interested in joining the preparations for a first planning meeting at Reo’s Movie Emporium on Front Street on Thursday.
The meeting starts at 6:30.
Co-organizer Stephanie Myers says they are hoping that newcomers to the community will make their way down to see what can be done for this year’s celebration, which is the 24th annual.

“If you have a great idea, that is great, but that means you will have to be the one to help make it come to fruition. We will help with the marketing and booking of spaces and all that, but you will have to do some of the legwork too”, Myers told My Nelson Now.

“We don’t want people to sit back and say they wish more events were happening, but they are the ones that have to make that happen since we are all volunteers”.
