A leading advocate for the poor in Nelson says the community should not be alarmed by the idea of a permanent outdoor camp for the homeless.
Pastor Jim Reimer with Kootenay Christian Fellowship has proposed a feasibility study on the idea and says it would not be a case of “build it and they will come.”
Reimer says the study would look at the possibility and practicality of having an outdoor camp for Nelson’s homeless full-time residents…not transients.
It would have proper services like water, sanitation and fire suppression.
