Snowmobiler dies near Revelstoke

A 27-year-old man from Quebec has died while snowmobiling near Revelstoke.

RCMP say he was reported missing on Boulder Mountain on Saturday at 5:40 p.m.

He was with a group when he became separated. Cpl. James Grandy said the man tried to radio his location to his group, but without GPS or satellite communication, he couldn’t be found immediately.

Revelstoke Search and Rescue were deployed and located the man at 9:12 p.m. in “serious medical distress” in a remote and steep area called Toilet Bowl.

“Sadly, while the man was being rapidly extracted from the location, his condition worsened and he succumbed to his injuries,” Grandy said.

No specific cause of death was given, but it is not considered suspicious, Grandy added.

Revelstoke RCMP are working alongside the BC Coroners Service in the investigation.
