City of Nelson ready to celebrate Hall Street Pier completion

Nelson’s Hall Street Pier project is officially nearing the finish line, with a grand opening celebration scheduled for September.

First proposed in 2020, the $4.7 million project has faced several hurdles, including supply chain and inflation issues, which have increased costs and delayed completion.

However, after nearly five years, the City is ready to celebrate reaching the finish line with a grand opening celebration on September 14, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The family-friendly event will feature face painting, cupcakes and treats, entertainment for all ages, live music, and more.

Additionally, the Nelson Streetcar will be free to ride for the duration of the event.

Seating at the event will be limited, so community members are encouraged to bring their own chairs, just in case.
