Nelson Police investigate break and enter City Hall

Nelson Police Departments are appealing to the public for information following a break and entre at Nelson City Hall over the holiday period.

Police were called by a staff member at City Hall who reported that his department appeared to have been broken into.

“Although City Hall is open to the public, no one should have been able to access this part of the building,” say investigators.

When police arrived on scene, the staff member pointed out several drawers and cabinets that had been rifled through, as well as items that had been taken or moved.

Forensic services were called to the scene and were able to extract usable pieces of evidence.

Police are still investigating this file.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the department.
