Final debate in federal NDP nomination race scheduled for tonight

The two candidates competing for the NDP nomination in the federal Columbia–Kootenay–Southern Rockies riding will face off in one final debate in Nelson this evening.

Nelson City Councillor Keith Page and West Kootenay Regional Arts Council Executive Director Kalee Lins will meet one last time at the Nelson Innovation Centre this evening at 5:30 p.m.

Following the debate, NDP members in the riding will vote on who they would like to be their candidate, with the online voting period opening at 7 p.m. on February 27 and closing on the 28.

The winner will be revealed during a campaign launch celebration scheduled for 7:30 p.m. tomorrow night at Nelson’s Adventure Hotel.

Everyone is welcome to attend both events. However, only NDP members from within the riding who have been in good standing with the party since January 13 are eligible to vote.

The next federal election is legislated to take place no later than October 20, 2025.
