Police nab wanted man in Castlegar

Castlegar RCMP have arrested a man with 10 outstanding warrants.

Police had asked for the public’s assistance in January to locate Russell Sapriken.

They received a tip from a local business earlier this month that Sapriken was in their store.

Corporal Debbie Postnikoff says they arrested him and he was sentenced to 10 months in custody followed by a year of probation.

Sapriken’s list of offences included driving while prohibited, breach of recognizance and theft under $5,000.

The charges stem from a number of incidents in Castlegar and Trail between 2013-2014.
