A key tourist attraction on Kootenay Lake is to be purchased by the Lower Kootenay Indian Band.
They will take ownership of Ainsworth Hot Springs next month.
In a written statement Chief Jason Louie said the acquisition of the site is an important economic step.
The springs are known among the Ktunaxa people as “Spirit Water “.
No immediate changes at the resort are planned and the band said they’ll be making some capital improvements in the near future.
The resort which is south of Kaslo has been family-owned since 1962.
