Nelson medical clinic public hearing May 11

Nelson council has agreed to a formal public hearing on the proposed medical clinic opposite the hospital.

That will happen May 11th after which the project – on land currently zoned residential – could be given the go-ahead

The city’s senior planner Megan Squires says noise and privacy concerns of immediate neighbours have been addressed through increased set-backs on the interior perimeter.

As for traffic noise the doctors behind the project have suggested half the 38 parking stalls will be inside the building but there’s no obligation for them to do that.

Council can’t comment ahead of the public hearing but Squires says city staff’s job is to ensure the project fits with Nelson’s Official Community Plan and she says it does.
