GF CAO and family bullied and intimidated:councillor

We have heard the first public acknowledgement of the reasons behind the departure of Grand Forks CAO Doug Allin in November.

Councillor Chris Hammett brought it up at this week’s council meeting. She laid the blame at what she called the small minority of anti-water meter protesters.

Hammett says Allin was re-hired once the new council decided to move on with the water meter installation program.

But protests continue from some in the community in light of the $192,000 severance package given to Allin by the previous council. He was re-hired by the new council a few months later.

Resident Donald Pharand was on the streets of Grand Forks today calling on residents to sign a petition to the BC Attorney General. He says residents need to know what went on behind the scenes.

Hammett and council insist Allin is the right person for the CAO job and the terms of his new contract are more favorable to taxpayers than his last one .
