BC Shriners boost with Nelson link

Some provincial funding for BC children’s health care and it came with a strong Nelson connection.

The government has announced $250,000 for Shriners of BC Care For Kids to help cover transport costs.

Finance Minister Mike de Jong made the announcement in Nelson over the weekend on the final leg of a special 2-day Spokane-to-Nelson relay put on by Nelson’s Robert Goertz.

Goertz’s daughter Talia is among the thousands of children who’ve received specialist care through Shriners of BC.

For over a hundred years the volunteer organisation has raised millions of dollars.
