NPD use taser in mental health incident

The Nelson Police Department had to use a taser on a mentally disturbed person.

On Sunday a female tenant was screaming from her apartment and threatening to stab people.

The woman – who is well-known to police – was found on a mattress and covered by a blanket.

Despite lengthy efforts to pacify her the police saw she was indeed holding a large kitchen knife.

She became enraged and they deployed the conducted energy weapon while disarming her.

She’s been taken into medical care.
