Record-setting May weather

Last month was the warmest May in 17 years.

Our South East Fire Centre weather office reports the mean monthly temperature was 1.9 C higher than normal

Record daily maximum temperatures of 27.9 C, 30.3 C and 31.7 C were set on the 20th, 21st and 22nd respectively.

It was the driest May since 2007 with only 55% of the average amount of rainfall.

77% of the month’s total precipitation fell between the night of the 24th and the morning of the 31st.
