Quest for wheelchair accessible vehicle

There is no public access to a wheelchair accessible vehicle in the West Kootenay.

This from the Age Friendly Community initiative which is a project of the Nelson Cares Society.

The Project’s Randi Jensen says she reached out to the local Seniors Coordinating Society after she struggled to transport her mother from the Jubilee Manor to a family event.
 

 

The AFC has now partnered with the Kootenay Careshare Co-op and the Seniors Co-ordinating society to explore adding a wheelchair accessible van to the fleet.

The project will also be putting out a survey to gauge residents’ support.
