Rick Medley said he didn’t know much about lung health when he was diagnosed in 2021 with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis — a chronic lung disease that causes scarring of lung tissue and makes it difficult to breathe.

Today’s showers provided a nice reprieve as the Kootenay Native Plant Society and Wildsight’s Youth Climate Corps joined forces at Nelson’s Monarch Waystation, planting over 60 native nectar species that will support migrating monarch butterflies and other pollinators.

The Nelson Health Campus is on track to open this summer. 

Several community members from Nelson have had their heroic lifesaving actins highlighted at a special ceremony with family and friends at the Nelson RCMP Detachment this week.
