Greg Scott wins Nelson heritage award

This year’s recipient of the Nelson heritage award is historian Greg Scott. He says it was a pleasant surprise.

Since 2002 he’s chronicled the city’s past in a column for the Nelson Daily News and Nelson Star.

In addition he does heritage walking tours and used to chair the heritage commission.

He’s also published a book about the history of Saint Saviour’s Pro-Cathedral and its stained glass windows.

The award comes with a $1,000 prize.

Past recipients are the Nelson and District Chamber of Commerce for their restoration of the train station and Fiona Richards and Douglas Jones of Cartolina Cards for their restoration of the surviving wing of the Tremont Hotel.
