Slocan Valley regional director mulls village request

The Slocan Valley’s regional director hasn’t decided whether to support a request from the Village of Slocan.
They want out of the regional parks service to save money given the loss of tax revenue from their sawmill.
Walter Popoff says he’ll consult his rural constituents before determining a position.
Popoff says he’d prefer Slocan stay in the service but appreciates the financial challenges they face.
If Slocan does go, his area will be on the hook for another $2,600 a year.
