Trail RCMP arrest and ship man back East

A man arrested locally has found out he can’t run from an Ontario warrant.

David Lupul is wanted for assault with a weapon and other charges stemming from Toronto.

Trail RCMP Corporal Dave Johnson says that’s where the B.C Fugitive Return Program comes into play and he was arrested and transported east last week.

He figures it sends an important message … and not just to potential criminals.

The fugitive return program deals with province-specific warrants and is funded by assets confiscated under proceeds of crime legislation.
