One man’s trash is the City of Castlegar’s treasure.
Public Works Director Chris Barlow explains how the city’s compost — also referred to as black gold — is saving them and taxpayers money.
Barlow says it’s recycling at its finest — as residents can easily dispose of the yard waste at the Community Complex and receive a direct benefit.
He adds compost samples have been sent to an environmental consultant to see if it’s good enough to sell to private parties.
