Management changes made debt repayment difficult: Seniors Society

The Rossland Seniors Housing Society suggests years of senior management changes at City Hall didn’t help regarding their outstanding debt on Esling Park Lodge. With a repayment deadline missed City Council has now told the Society to start paying principle and interest on a $270,000 loan. Board member Bill Profili says it was hard to negotiate a deal with the administrator retiring then his replacement now on extended sick leave.

And Profili says there was also conflicting messages from previous Councils about possibly writing off the debt. But he concedes each of the seniors units will now incur about $80 a month more to pay off the debt.
