Prescribed burn near Crawford Bay

No need for alarm if you see smoke in the Crawford Bay or Balfour area today.

BC Timber sales personnel and BC Wildfire Service crews are coordinating a controlled burn 11 km Northeast of Crawford Bay.

Here’s Fire Information Officer Karlie Shaughnessy.


Smoke will be visible from the communities of Queens Bay, Balfour, Crawford Bay and the Kootenay Lake ferry.

Trained BC Wildfire Service personnel will carefully monitor the fires at all times.
