Woman dies after falling into Cottonwood ravine

A woman who fell into the ravine above Nelson’s Cottonwood Falls on Friday evening has died.

The BC Coroners Service says she passed away early Saturday in Kootenay Lake Hospital.

Nelson police acting Sgt. Brian Weber says that’s despite an incredible rope rescue by firefighters.

Weber says they’re still trying to figure out what happened.

The woman’s name, age, and hometown haven’t been released.

A man who fell into the ravine with her suffered only minor injuries.
