Kootenay Lake conservation fund decision to referendum

Four communities around Kootenay Lake are to go to referendum on the question of setting up a special conservation fund.
Homeowners in Areas A,D,E and the Village of Kaslo will be asked if they want to pay up to $15 a year in tax over ten years to amass seed money to help fund an initiative to protect wildlife and habitat.
The question and tax amount have yet to be finalized.
Here’s Garry Jackman the Rural Director for Area A on the East Shore.
Jackman says other funding partners would be sought.
If the majority of voters in the 4 Areas combined say “yes” then the tax would come into effect.
