New glass recycling program begins in Castlegar

Castlegar’s first curbside glass pick up under the new Multi Material BC recycling stewardship starts today.

Public Works Director Chris Barlow says to make glass collection affordable following May’s implementation of the B.C wide intitiative they’ve moved glass collection to once a month.

Barlow reminds residents that if they do miss pick up they can properly recycling glass at the Ootischenia landfill at any time .

Some councillors did express concerns that the City was taking a step backwards with the MMBC program – that doesn’t deal with glass.

Castlegar used to have bi-weekly curbside glass pickup.
