More funds needed to complete Ward Street project

A lot of work has been done to Nelson’s Ward Street Place but more is needed for the well-established affordable housing.
This from Nelson Cares Society ‘s Jenny Robinson with over 20% more in fundraising needed to complete the $3-million project.
The hundred year old brick building is a vital asset for people in poverty seeking permanent accommodation.
$2.2 million came from BC Housing and Columbia Basin Trust for health and safety upgrades and renos on the dozens of units.
But cares is appealing to the community to help raise about $700,000 to refurbish their street level commercial units -which help fund the site – and to create a long-term maintenance fund.
