Castlegar to research waste collection options

What might be one community’s trash collection, could be the City of Castlegar’s treasure.

City staff are gathering information on how other communities operate curbside waste collection before their contract comes up for renewal next May.

Councillor Dan Rye says they are consulting with municipalities across the Kootenays and Okanagan.

Rye says they just want to make sure they are doing the best they can for residents – especially after the Multi Material BC recycling stewardship program started earlier this year.

He adds they now have to do recycling pickup separate from garbage when it used to be together.
