Horses okay after dramatic accident

A collaborative effort from emergency officials and the public after a horse trailer flipped just West of Playmour Junction.

Nelson RCMP were called to the accident around  5pm Friday after a truck towing two horses had the trailer dislodge – breaking the safety chains and causing it to fall on its side.

One horse escaped relatively unharmed but the other was pinned by twisted metal.

Members of the Tarrys and Beasley Fire Departments were able to get the animal free.

 A nearby family were called and brought another trailer to the scene and used their expertise to load the frightened and injured animals.
