Streetcar Society looks at theft prevention

They’re not giving details but the Nelson Electric Tramway Society is working on a plan to protect their technical assets.

This after someone stole several copper pieces that link the rails for the streetcar next to the soccer fields.

Here’s Operations Superintendent and Secretary-Treasurer Jim Robertson.


He says it’s very frustrating for all the senior volunteers to have to spend time and effort replacing the copper.

Nelson police have told the community to look out for the twisted pieces that are 10 cm long and about 1.5 cm thick.
