Interfor Q2 results

Interfor – the company that owns sawmills in Grand forks and Castlegar -is reporting record lumber output in the second quarter.

582 million board feet was produced which is up 18% from the prior quarter.

The company says the growth reflects the addition of two sawmills in the US southeast and higher operating rates at our local mills.

Its sawmill in Beaver-Folks on the Washington State peninsula has been closed permanently.

That made a big impact on net earnings of just over $7 million dollars for the quarter.

That’s about half of what was earned in the second quarter of 2013.
