Slocan Park fire nearly contained

Ground crew and helicopters have been stood down as mother nature weighs in on the Slocan Park wildfire.

Over 27 millimetres of rain in a 24-hour period has helped douse the flames and the blaze is now 80% contained.

But the wet conditions and low cloud means there had been no activity Friday.

Information Officer Julie Castonguay tells us what happens next.


The lightning caused fire burst into life nearly two weeks ago.

The Evacuation Alert for nearby properties was lifted Thursday.
