Fugitive dust to be cleaned off Rivervale streets

The community partnership that makes up the Trail Area Health and Environment Committee is expanding dust suppression from Teck Operations.

Street washing will now include Rivervale for a one-off clean this week.

Here’s company spokesman Richard Deane.

The city of Trail already sweeps streets in town.

Fugitive dust from Teck emissions contains lead and arsenic and the company recently announced this area of pollution as a priority.

The company has many initiatives to combat dust on their sites.

The community committee aims to cut lead levels in dust by about 50% by 2018.
