Kootenay Pride goes this weekend

A new more serious element to what is otherwise a weekend of fun and celebration for Kootenay Pride Festival.

One of the organisers Dan Ellis says they’ll have sexual health workers on site for the street party in Nelson Sunday afternoon.

They’ll be testing for HIV and other diseases.


The weekend is billed as an opportunity to build bridges between people of all sexual orientations.

Bars,clubs and other venues in Nelson and Castlegar are hosting a variety of activities.

The parade goes on Baker Street Sunday.
