Hazardous waste drop off this weekend

The RDCK is hoping the public will do its part to stop hazardous waste finding its way into the wrong places – like landfills or dumped elsewhere.

This weekend sees the first of five special days they’ve set aside this year for people to bring in toxic liquids and materials.

If you’ve got old paint or other liquids, aerosols, batteries or electronics then you can taken them to the Castlegar Complex Saturday or the Nelson Leafs Recycling Depot Sunday.

Disposal is free of charge.

Last year over 25,000 litres of hazardous liquids and nearly 3,000 kilograms of material was collected.
