Castlegar residents are losing sleep over a noisy Canadian Pacific Railway train running through the night.
Some are being jolted out of bed as it blasts its horn-whistle when passing through as per federal regulations.
The daily train used to come through town during the afternoon.
CPR spokesperson Salem Woodrow says they had to make an operational change that came into affect Tuesday.
Woodrow says CP was in contact with the mayor’s office a few weeks ago to provide advance notice.
However residents are upset they had no warning of the service switch that sees a train now roll through the city as late as 1 o’clock in the morning.
