Fire at Retriev battery facility Waneta

A fire at Waneta Wednesday morning at the Retriev Technologies battery recycling facility (formely Toxco).

Crews from Trail, Montrose and Warfield responded just after six o’clock.

Deputy Regional Fire Chief Dan Derby says they got on top of things within an hour and there was no serious threat to the public regarding any chemical issues.


He says had it been a chemical fire the department has plans in place to get word out quickly to the community.
