Nelson restricts e-cigarette use

Nelson has become one of the first cities in Canada to ban the use of e-cigarettes in certain public places.

Councillor Robin Cherbo was behind the vote saying there just isn’t enough information on how bad the health effects may be.

So the devices can’t be used in the city work place or local government buildings.


The city may in future move to ban them in outdoor public areas as well.

Potential passive smoking risks have been flagged by the World Health Organisation.

In recent days Vancouver has banned e-cigarettes in public spaces.
